KFC has apologised to a customer and cancelled a parking fine she received while taking her children for a meal.

Carolyn Bentham, 47, took her three-year-old and 10-month-old children for lunch at the KFC restaurant in Hyndburn Road, Accrington, after shopping in the town on July 1, and received a fine from parking company, Civil Enforcement, during her stay.

Arriving just before 1.30pm, Carolyn, from Darwen, took her children in and ordered them food, but did not receive the meals until 2.05pm.

In the time it took to get the kids to sit down and eat, and then get them buckled back into the car and the pram packed away, she had gone 10 minutes over the one-hour parking time limit.

KFC has since apologised to Carolyn and said that they have managed to get the fine cancelled.

A KFC spokesperson said: “To help keep things running smoothly, we do have some parking limits in place, but what happened to Carolyn wasn’t great.

"We’re really sorry and we’ve been in touch with her to make things right and cancel the fine.”

The Lancashire Telegraph attempted to contact Civil Enforcement but was unsuccessful.
