YOU couldn’t move for buses on Blackburn Boulevard back in 1979 when this picture was taken. The trouble was they weren’t going anywhere
Double-deckers were lined up nose to tail forming a blockade of the bus station as drivers walked out on strike in support of a pay claim.
In the background you can see the Palace Cinema and the roof of the Boulevard toilets - both of which have now disappeared,
All the buses were in the distinctive livery of Blackburn Corporation transport apart from the single-decker National bus on the left.
Do you remember the bus strike? Perhaps you were one of the drivers involved in the dispute. Let us know what happened - email bygones@nqnw.co.uk
