A Michelin star restaurant in East Lancashire is on the hunt for five new apprentice chefs who will be trained under Lisa Goodwin Allen.

Northcote is launching its apprenticeship programme, spearheaded by the 2022 ‘Chef of the Year’.

The restaurant is looking to bring in fresh talent to its apprenticeship programme and is on the lookout for five individuals who are enthusiastic about hospitality and want to learn from the best.

Chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen has risen through the ranks at Northcote, taking over the reins at the tender age of just 23, Lisa really is an inspiration to those wanting to make an impact in the hospitality industry.

When she was awarded the 2022 CATEY Chef of the Year award on 5th July, the judges described her as “an incredibly hardworking individual who embraces, showcases and develops young talent; a great, inspiring role model and shining light.”

Lisa works across the whole kitchen; managing the team, developing new dishes, handling the ins and outs of the commercial side of the kitchen, and creates a passionate and positive place for the team to work.

As a Northcote kitchen apprentice, budding chefs will work closely with Lisa and will be enrolled in Northcote’s training provider, which works together with the kitchen management team to schedule and oversee education, progression and development from the start to finish.

Over the two-year programme, apprentices will have the opportunity to gain paid work experience, earning a minimum of £7 per hour.

After successfully completing the apprenticeship, all students will be offered a permanent contract as a Northcote chef and the scheme will continue to invest in their development, offering future promotional opportunities.

Successful apprentices will receive a level 2 or 3 qualification in Professional Cookery.
