A Lancashire man is one of the newest bombshells to enter the Love Island villa – and he's already ruffling feathers in the outside world.

Jamie Allen, from Preston, is taking part in the popular ITV2 dating show Love Island and he entered the villa last night (20 July).

The professional footballer has already sparked some controversy after his current club Halifax Town said they be “reviewing the player’s future” after his decision to ditch pre-season training to appear on the show.

Upon entering he said the men currently in the villa “should be worried about his arrival”.

The footballer, who has bounced round clubs in the non-league divisions, said: “I shoot, I usually score.

“When I get into the villa I’m going to bring good vibes and good energy.

“I’m not scared of stepping on anyone’s toes – if I want something I will go and get it.

“The boys should be worried about me going into the villa – look at me, who wouldn’t be? Let the games begin.”

On which islanders he has his eyes on, Jamie said his sights are set on beauties Paige Thorne (currently coupled up with Adam Collard) and singleton Danica Taylor.

Who is Love Island's Jamie Allen?

27-year-old Jamie is a Preston lad who plays professionally for Halifax Town in the National League as either a winger or striker.

He started his career at Fleetwood Town and has also had a loan spell at AFC Fylde.

He has also represented the small Caribbean island nation of Montserrat at international level.

Jamie has found himself in hot water since entering the villa as National League side Halifax said it was reviewing the player’s future after he left their pre-season training to appear on the ITV2 dating programme.

The new National League season starts in just two weeks' time on August 6, when Halifax travel to Barnet.

Allen signed a new one-year contract with the team in June and the club will decide how to proceed when he returns.

Halifax tweeted: “Jamie Allen has decided to join the cast of Love Island 2022, making his intentions clear that the opportunity is very important to him.

“The matter will be reviewed on his return.”

Jamie is the first Lancashire-born contestant to appear on the show this year. However, controversial Ekin-su Cülcüloglu once studied as a University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) student.

She pursued a BA degree in acting at the university before graduating in 2015.

He is the second professional sportsman to enter the villa in 2022, following Cumbrian Jacques O'Neill who quit rugby league side Castleford Tigers midway through the Super League season to appear on the show.
