Staff at a Darwen school are helping to spread awareness of Dementia as part of a local campaign.

Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio hosted an event by the One Voice Charity who are visiting schools and work places to raise awareness about Dementia.

They are attempting to reach ‘2000 Dementia friends’ by the year 2025.

The 'Dementia Awareness' session was run by health lead, Nazia Khan who works alongside One Voice.

Science teacher Qasim Hussain organised the event.

He said: “The content of the dementia session focussed on what dementia is and how it can affect an individual.

“There was also a focus on the signs and symptoms of dementia and how to support someone with dementia.

"The condition can affect the young as well as the old, and we looked at some myth busting statements.”
