A collision between several vehicles left wreckage strewn across a busy Blackburn road, with nearby residents rushing to help.

The incident happened at around 3pm on Wednesday, July 13, in St James’s Road, Blackburn.

A BMW had its front end destroyed due to the impact of the collision and was left next to a parked car.

Across the road, outside St James’s Church, another vehicle involved in the incident had a damaged front end and wheel.

Parked vehicles on the busy street had also been damaged following the incident.

Local residents and passers-by had rushed to the scene to help those involved in the crash.

Emergency services, including the police, had closed the road at the junction with Northfield Road, with the crash taking place during the school rush hour.

Police said passengers had escaped with minor injuries.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Cllr Hussain Akhtar was contacted by concerned residents after the smash. He has been a vocal supporter of traffic calming measures on nearby roads to avoid similar incidents.

He said: “This is a very busy junction and I urge people to be careful.

“There are parked cars on both sides of the road. Look after your life and think about the consequences you could have on someone else’s life.

“It only takes one person to cause a complete blockage and incidents of this nature.

“I am going to look into this junction and if I can see if there can be any improvements I will raise this.”
