A naked couple who were seen having a picnic at a popular vantage spot have been slammed by some people who use the area.

The man and woman were seen on Pleasington Hill on Sunday having a picnic close to the Alfred Wainwright Memorial.

They seemed almost oblivious to other people using the area to view the stunning scenery, according to a witness.

It prompted some locals to ask for some "simple decency" from other park users in the summer sunshine.

The weather on Sunday was glorious sunshine, with temperatures hitting the high 20s.

One walker, who did not wish to be named, said: “It is not what you want to see when you are out enjoying the scenic spot.

“I was a bit shocked to see this.

“There were children walking past and some families. It is too much to ask to at least cover your private parts.”

The Met Office said highs of 30 degrees centigrade are expected in some areas this week with many parts of the UK all experiencing the rising temperatures during the heatwave.

Parts of the country will be hotter than some of the world’s top beach destinations, including the Maldives and Marbella in Spain.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Another walker who uses the area regularly said: “It’s not that hot is it?

“I would like to think people can wear the bare minimum during the hot weather.

“I think some people don’t realise what they are doing once they have had a few drinks in the summer sun."

The Wainwright Memorial sits on Pleasington Hill off Billinge End Road and the Clog and Billycock.

It is a popular picnic spot and used by many walkers.
