Eid prayers due to take place at Blackburn Rovers this morning have been cancelled due to a wet pitch.
The club made an announcement today (Saturday July 9) and said the Eid event would now take place at Corporation Park.
The second Eid celebration of the year - Eid-Ul-Adha, follows the completion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Rovers became the first football club in the UK to host Eid prayers at their stadium on May Bank Holiday. The first Eid marking the end of Ramadan.
Prayers were due to take place at Ewood Park today and will now be held at 10am at Corporation Park where the event had taken place in recent years.
The club had stated earlier this week that any rain or dew may mean the event being cancelled with the start of the new season only weeks away.
❌ Regrettably, Eid @ Ewood Park has been cancelled in order to protect the pitch, following the overnight wet weather.
