A woman from Blackburn is running a pre-loved clothes stall to raise money for East Lancashire Hospice on Sunday.

Slimming World consultant Gemma Lewis, who runs six sessions a week, decided to join the East Lancashire Hospice Corporate Challenge earlier this year to enable the Hospice to continue providing outstanding care for local people.

The event invites Slimming World members to celebrate their weight losses by donating the clothes that no longer fit them (and that they know they’ll never need again) to raise desperately needed post-pandemic funds for the Hospice.

Gemma said: “At the minute, we’ve raised about £2,500 for the Hospice which is absolutely brilliant, I’m really excited about this.”

Hyndburn consultant Marisa Bannan is also running events to raise money for the Hospice through the same challenge which runs from May to August of this year.

The pair decided to cover both sides of the town with various events and have been running raffles within their Slimming World groups to raise as much as possible for the Hospice who don’t receive any Government funding.

The Corporate Challenge was first established by East Lancashire Hospice in 2017 and was last held in 2019, before the pandemic affected all fundraising efforts. In 2019, the challenge saw over fifteen companies take part who together generated an income of over £62,000 for patient care.

Gemma is hoping to raise an extra £500 on Sunday through clothes purchases, so she is encouraging anyone in the area to pop down and buy some clothes for a wonderful cause.

The Pre Loved Fashion Bring and Buy Charity Fundraiser will be held at St Marks Conservative Club on Preston Old Road in Blackburn from 10am to 2pm this Sunday July, 10.

Entry is £1 which covers the cost of a ticket for the exciting raffle.
