A SOUTHAMPTON band who have been touring with The Libertines are back on the South coast for a headline show today.

The Dead Freights are top of the bill of a BBC Introducing South showcase at The Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea, in partnership with Independent Venue Week, tonight.

The rock and roll four-piece, frontman Charlie James, guitarist Robert Franklin, bassist Robby Spencer and drummer Louis Duarte, will be joined by Southampton singer-songwriter Caity Baser and 10-piece collective South Coast Ghosts.

Their latest single Who Said Scared? was produced by The Libertines’ drummer Gary Powell and has caught the eye of BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq.

Radio Solent’s BBC Introducing host Steph Nieuwenhuys, told The Echo: “The music scene on the South Coast right now is so exciting, from Southampton's Mauvey signing to the same label as Carly Rae Jepsen to Isle of Wight's Wet Leg getting a number one album.”
