Dog owners are being invited to meet up with other furry friends in the area for a relaxing, charity dog walk later this month.

The social enterprise charity Community Solutions have organised the family friendly walk with Hyndburn Leisure and Let’s Move Hyndburn to encourage people to spend some time exploring the local nature and beautiful scenery and learn about the area's history.

The walk will start at 11am from Hyndburn Leisure Centre and finish at Elmfield Hall in Gatty Park on Saturday, July 23, and dog treats will be provided for the cuddly companions.

People without dogs are still encouraged to sign up to the walk and fit in a bit of exercise whilst meeting some adorable pets.

The dog walk costs £10 to sign up t,  which covers a meat or vegetarian sandwich and tea or coffee once the walk is finished, and the money raised will be going towards Community Solutions.

Community Solutions works to support local people’s needs and build confidence, independence, and self-esteem with the aim of helping people become ‘happy, healthy and the best they can be’.

Chris Emmerson, Enterprise Development Manager of Community Solutions, said: “All the money raised from the day will continue to help support our social groups and activities we put on to help people in Hyndburn who have been living in social isolation.

“We’re looking to organise more events in the future for kids and families to have a fun day out and help raise money which goes towards people in the community.”

There are two walking distances available. The shorter one is a five-kilometre (three mile) walk which should take approximately an hour, and the second is a 10km (six mile) walk which will be around 90 minutes.

A certificate will be provided once the walk has been completed.
