A Lancashire woman has appeared on a new Channel 4 property show hosted by George Clarke – and she made an impressive profit on the programme.

Harriet Swan, from Morecambe, appeared on George Clarke's Flipping Fast – a show where six people in the UK are given a whopping £100,000 investment to kickstart their business.

On the show, they compete against each other to see who can make the most profit from 'flipping' property - buying, renovating and then reselling - hopefully for profit - quickly - in just 12 months.

After 12 months the most successful property flipper will be revealed.

In addition to keeping their profits, the winner gets a cash prize of the full £100,000 investment given to them at the beginning of the process.

Before getting stuck into the property market, Harriet, a fashionable sports journalist, was described as the “dark horse" of the competition.

Harriet, 28, said: “I’m not going to take too many risks – I think I’m going to try and be quite sensible and use family and friends, who might have some great skills, to my advantage.

“I’m staying local and sticking with what I know. I am trying to go for properties that are already structurally sound and just make cosmetic changes.

“I don’t want to do anything too big and bite off more than I can chew.

“However, I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty, as much as you might look at me and think ‘she won’t get stuck in’.

“The nails will be off and I’ll be absolutely ready for any job.”

After the first episode, Harriet was at the top of the leader board. She purchased a one-bedroom flat in Morecambe for £67,750.

After renovating the space with the help of family members, she managed to sell the home for £99,000, making £18,807 – a 24 per cent profit.

Harriet’s property journey then took her to Bolton where she purchased a flat for £77,000.

In three weeks she renovated the property and put in back on the market, selling it for £109,000.

Sadly, her efforts weren’t quite enough to win the entire competition but she still walked away with £35,023 in profit for her renovations.

Speaking about her experience on the show, Harriet said: "What an amazing experience!

"It’s has been such a wonderful year.

"I have learnt so much and I am so so grateful to have been part of Flipping Fast.

"I will never forget this adventure and all the fabulous people I have met along the way."
