Blackburn will become a ‘beach resort’ this summer holidays – with the introduction of a sand sculpture trail in the town centre

The sand sculpture trail will take place from August 12 to August 28 and include 10 sand sculptures with the theme of ‘summer holidays’, plus a live carve.

The live carve will be an ‘Under the Sea’ scene, taking place over the first three days of the event, remaining in situ for the duration.

It will include beautiful sea creatures carved in sand before your eyes.

Locations around the town centre will include Primark, Althams, Grays Outfitters, Trespass, Mad Hatters Tearooms, Blackburn Central Library, Morrisons, Utilita, Clarks and Rhode Island Coffee.

The live carve will take place in Victoria Court in The Mall shopping centre. The theme ‘summer holidays’ was chosen by Blackburn BID (Business Improvement District) businesses.

In previous years, Blackburn BID hosted hugely popular summer events including Paw Patrol and Dinosaur-themed brick model trails, as well as plenty of interactive activities for the whole family.

Blackburn BID manager, Catherine Price, said: “We are very excited to host our very own Blackburn BID Sand Sculpture Trail, taking place this summer.

“The event will offer free family entertainment during the summer holidays and will make people feel like they are on their own coastal vacation right here in Blackburn.

“The sand sculptures are so impressive and will be a real feast for the eyes.”
