A private ambulance firm has opened a new base which will serve East Lancashire.

Jake Berry, MP for Rossendale and Darwen, opened the NorWest Medical base, just off junction 29 of the M6 on Friday, June 24.

The 14,000 square foot, purpose-built ambulance base and training facility in Walton Summit will be home to a new operating base with 40 full-time employees.

Founded in 2019, NorWest Medical are a CQC registered provider of emergency ambulances, and urgent care support service operating across Lancashire, working both privately at events as well as with the NHS ambulance service.

Managing director Garry Pamment said: “It’s a real milestone in the development of the business, having more space presents more opportunities and makes for a more comfortable setting to deliver our operation.

“Myself and all of the crews are really excited for the future.”

The move to the larger premises means NorWest can continue to offer a full spectrum of medical training to its staff and members of the local community, including the work they complete alongside the charity Little Lifesavers in the tutoring of CPR to local primary schools and children’s groups.

The ambulance crews have already worked with the likes of Burnley Football Club and London Based Unify Productions on the recent Harry Potter event at Arley Hall in Cheshire.

The all-terrain medical vehicles and the mobile pop-up medical triage and treatment facility will also be relocating to the new site.
