A teenager is aiming for a career in the film industry after pursuing his passion in model making.

Leo Hindle, from Darwen has completed his level three extended diploma in game art and concepts at Blackburn College.

The 18-year-old hopes to study Special Effects for Modelmaking for Film and Television at the University of Bolton in September.

Leo’s work compromises of three model figures and sets which have been inspired by Mike Rivamonte, a popular space themed figure sculpture.

The former Darwen Aldridge Enterprise School student said: “I’ve been interested in model making since primary school and I’m quite happy with how my work has turned out.

“It took around two to three months per model, although one took a bit longer than that, so it’s been a long process.”

“I’ve been able to make whatever I wanted to out of any kind of material which has been really fun. I have enjoyed creating my final project and have been excited to see it on display.”

The exhibition, which runs until July 6th, was launched by Blackburn College Principal and Chief Executive Dr Fazal Dad and Jenny Rutter, Chair of Creative Lancashire and Director of the British Textile Biennial and Super Slow Way.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, students were given a brief as part of a task by the Welsh National Opera to create a set for the opera ‘Tosca.’ Leo’s work was submitted to the opera, and he received a commendation for his submission.

Leo has also entered his work into the Origins Creatives 2022 Exhibition at the University Arts London and could have his work displayed in London later this year.
