A power cut has hit hundreds of East Lancashire homes with engineers now on the way to investigate why power has been lost.
The loss of power was reported at around 7.40pm on Sunday night by utilities company Electricity North West, which says that around 214 customers in the Bacup area around the OL13 postcode have been impacted.
As yet the company has not released further details about why they believe power was lost.
A statement from Electricity North West said: “We are aware of a power cut in Bacup OL13 affecting 214 customers.
“Our engineers are en route to investigate.”
It added: “If you or anybody in your household require assistance please call us on 105.”
The company currently estimates that power should be restored in the area by around 10.20pm on Sunday evening.
As well as unexpected power cuts but in these cases customers are warned ahead of time.
A statement said: “Please be aware that all our time scales are estimated based on previous experience and may change if new information becomes available while our engineers are fixing the issue.
“With high voltage power cuts, we're often able to get many of the homes involved back on before our estimated time of restoration.”
