A 47-year-old was seen pleasuring himself on a churchyard bench.
Nigel Heywood, who was partially naked at the time, was in ‘full view’ of passing members of the public as he carried out the act.
He was arrested, charged, and ultimately appeared at Preston Magistrates Court for the offence, where he admitted outraging public decency.
According to court documents, the incident took place on a church bench in Chorley in April.
Heywood, of Anderton Street, Chorley, was made the subject of a community order and an alcohol treatment requirement for up to 20 days.
He must also pay a £200 fine, contribute £95 towards funding victim services, and was ordered to pay £85 towards prosecution costs.
His guilty plea was taken into account by magistrates.
