An 18-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with an assault that left a teenage boy in need of hospital treatment.

The victim, as 15-year-old-boy, was found unconscious in the street at Waterside in Euxton, Chorley at around 7.10pm on Friday evening.

The boy was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with a serious head injury where he remains in a “serious but stable condition” and police investigating the incident say they have now made an arrest.

A police spokesperson said: "Following a number of enquiries an 18-year-old man from Chorley was arrested yesterday evening, June 25, on suspicion of Section 18 Assault.

“He remains in custody at this time.

“We are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or footage to come forward.”

They added: “Although we have now made an arrest, our enquires are very much ongoing.

“We would ask any witnesses or anybody with CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage which captures the assault or anybody acting suspiciously in the area between 6.30pm and 7.30pm to contact police as soon as possible.
