A driver in Blackburn was stopped and fined hundreds of pounds for “obvious faults” including excessively tinted windows, thin tyres and illegal number plates.

Lancashire Police reported on Sunday afternoon that they had stopped the car and handed out a fine totalling £250 along with giving the driver three penalty points on his licence.

The faults included illegal number plates, excessively tinted windows and a tyre that was just 1.2milimetres, with the car now banned from the roads until all of these problems are dealt with.

A Lancashire Police Tactical Operations spokesperson said: “This vehicle in Blackburn was stopped due to several obvious faults.

“The driver was issued a £100 fine for illegal number plates, a £50 fine for excessively tinted windows, and 3 points and £100 fine for a tyre measuring just 1.2mm.

“The vehicle is now prohibited until faults are fixed.”
