A new education centre, for both children and adults, could be coming to Preston after plans have been submitted to the council.

Ahmed Lulat, a qualified secondary school teacher, has submitted plans to turn a building in Lowthorpe Road, Preston, into a 'provision of education' that could be open seven days a week.

If approved, the new school will be big enough for 36 students with subjects such as Arabic and cybersecurity on the curriculum.

It would be open from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday, with some hours at the weekend.

More than just a space to educate children aged five and up, the plans say it is suitable for adults too.

In the proposed plan, Mr Lulat said: “The purpose is to provide the local children and adults with education in mostly core subjects.

“Times of use from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday. 9am to 5pm at the weekend.

“The premises is to hold small classes in physics, chemistry, biology, IT/computing, maths, English, cybersecurity and Arabic.”

Th plan is to have two classrooms of eight students and two classrooms of 10 students.

Mr Lulat said: “If any other teacher or instructor wishes to use the premises for any other subjects within the above hours and the request is within reason, I would most certainly consider it.”

The plans are currently being considered by Preston Council with a decision to be made at a later date.
