Lancashire Dance Academy is hosting a free musical theatre taster lesson for young aspiring performers in East Lancashire.

The academy, based in Lower Darwen, are relaunching their brand new Musical Theatre classes to run over a five week term this summer.

Students will learn different areas of musical performance including vocal, drama and dance training in preparation for their first school show.

The classes will be led by the talented Miss Caitlin who has years of experience working behind the scenes with choreographers and on stage beside performers.

The lessons are split into three groups depending on age. ‘Mini Stage Starz’ is the youngest group for children aged five to seven. The class will centre on Matilda the Musical’s ‘Revolting Children.’

The second group ’Junior Stage Starz’ is for children aged eight to ten who will be learning the performance for Aladdin’s ‘Friend Like Me.’

 ‘Senior Stage Starz’ is for students over the age of 11 and will be learning the routine for Six the Musical’s ‘House of Holbein’.

The dance academy is a family run business and aims to provide a “affordable, fun and positive” learning experience for their students as well as providing opportunities to develop friendships, increase self-confidence, gain fitness and perform to audiences in shows.

The academy’s Mini Showteam and Streetdance team recently performed at the Blackburn Jubilee Celebration and continue to perform across the county.

The Musical Theatre classes will take place every Wednesday in preparation for their show which will be on across the North West in the coming months.
