A salon group has been crowned winners in the Education Salon category at the 2022 Salon Business Awards grand final.
Spectrum One Salon Group owner Katy Grimshaw, 32, travelled to London with some of her team to see their Haslingden business come out on top, and were presented with the award at a ceremony in London on Monday night.
The ceremony, which took place at Mayfair’s Quaglinos, was hosted by Salon Business Publishing Editor, Joanne Charlton, alongside celebrity hairdresser, Andrew Barton.
Katy said: “I couldn’t believe it when they read out our name on Monday night in front of a room full of people I look up to.
“Since I was an apprentice hairdresser at the age of 15, I have always placed such a big emphasis on education as a way to further my career.
"I paid for myself to go on courses in London with my apprentice wages and now, to have my own business win an award based on education feels like I have come full circle.
“I am so proud of our Spectrum One team and for us and our town of Haslingden to be recognised on a national level feels incredibly rewarding.”
The winners were selected following a six month-long competition that saw the elite of hairdressing pit themselves against their peers after what has been a challenging two years for the industry.
The awards, which boast 17 categories recognising 14 salons and three individuals, seek to find the most forward-thinking, successful and valued businesses in the country.
A win on the night marks a salon out as the cream of the crop, providing unrivalled recognition that they are at the pinnacle of their profession.
As the winner of the Education Salon award, Spectrum One Salon Group has been recognised as the best UK salon to excel at education in both quality and variety with continual education for consistently high standards in all salon services.
Established in 2015 by Rossendale hairdresser Katy, Spectrum One is a thriving family-run business which has grown each year to be so much more than just a hair salon.
With hairdressers travelling to Haslingden from all over the country on a weekly basis for Spectrum One Academy courses in hair extensions and colour led by Katy and her team of experts, this latest award win cements Spectrum One as the go-to destination when it comes to hair industry education.
