The line between two East Lancashire train stations was blocked this morning causing services to be disrupted.
Rail operator Northern said that due to trespassers on the line between Accrington and Rose Grove in Burnley, the line had been blocked.
British Transport Police were sent to resolve the situation with services subjected to delays and disruption.
A spokesperson for Northern said: "Due to trespassers on the railway between Accrington and Rose Grove, the line is blocked.
"Services on this route are currently subject to disruption.
"British Transport Police are working to resolve the situation."

The incident was reported just after 9.45am and was resolved just after 10.30am with all services back up and running as usual.
The spokesperson added later: "Disruption caused by trespassers on the railway between Accrington and Rose Grove has now ended.
"Services are no longer affected by this problem."
