A NEW sweet shop selling everything from Mr Whippy to candy floss to slush puppies is hoping to bring a “bit of Blackpool to Blackburn”.

Yum Yum’s in Mill Hill opened to customers on Saturday for a trial run before opening its doors officially on Tuesday, June 7.

The sweet shop, in Chapel Street, is offering a huge amount of sweet treats, with owner Jesse Charnock, 26, saying he wanted to bring something different to the area.

He said: “I wanted to do something a little bit different, something that Blackburn doesn’t have, especially in Mill Hill.

“Kids have to travel some distance to get what my shop offers. I wanted to bring a little bit of Blackpool to Blackburn.”

The shop sells everything including popcorn, candyfloss, sweets, hotdogs, cakes, slushies, Mr Whippy ice cream, coffees, milkshakes and of course sweets.

Jesse, who lives in Livesey, is hoping to branch the business out further and open more shops around the town as the business grows.

He added: “Everyone has been so nice and welcoming.

“People have called me from other companies saying they want to share my posts to get them more noticed.

“It has been busy around school times, it feels that more people are wanting to come in and everyone is enjoying it at the moment.

“This was a big risk to take as there are a lot of businesses nearby but because this is so different I am hoping that with people enjoying it I can get a Yum Yum’s in different areas.”

He also offers a small delivery service but is hoping to expand this in time.

The shop has employed two members of staff with plans to bring more in over the summer holidays as he expects and increase in demand.

The opening hours are Tuesday to Thursday 12pm until 6pm, and Friday and Saturday from 12pm until 8pm.

The sweet shop is Jesse’s second business venture as he also runs Target Solutions, a recycling company.
