A CHARITY CONCERT featuring popular songs from hit musicals is coming to an East Lancashire town this weekend.

A Night at the Musicals will be taking place at the Salvation Army in Blackburn on Saturday, June 11.

The event will feature soloists from Icy Shark’s upcoming professional tour of the same name plus the Salvation Army Band and the East Lancashire Hospitals Choir. 

There will be the chance to sing along with songs from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Mamma Mia, Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell.

Other songs will be heard from Les Misérables, Sister Act, Phantom of the Opera, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Anastasia and Waitress.

Bandmaster, Eric Millest, said: "The members of Blackburn Citadel Band are really looking forward to this Saturday's Night at the Musicals concert. 

“It is great to have the East Lancashire Hospitals Choir with us as well as professional soloists.”

It’s not the first time the Salvation Army’s band has hosted a concert to raise funds for charity.

Back in March they hosted a concert to commemorate their 140th anniversary and raised £950 for the UK Disaster Emergency Committee Ukraine appeal

A Night at the Musicals concert takes place on June 11 at 7pm. The venue is located at the Citadel Hall on Vicar Street, Blackburn.

Tickets are £6 on the door with £4 concessions and £2 for those under 16.

Money will be raised for "The Big Collection" which supports the Salvation Army's social and community work.
