FOOD festival attendees will be treated to cake sculpting by a celeb chef, gourmet cooking, head-to-head competitions and more this coming weekend.

The organisers of the 2022 Accrington Food Festival, Amazing Accrington, announced what festivalgoers can expect on the menu with a sweet feature from 'Extreme Cake Makers' star Molly Robbins.

The Netflix star, who recently won the 'Global Sugar Artist of the Year' award in Australia, is “extremely excited” to host the festival as Accrington is “very close” to her heart.

She said: “The Food Festival is an event which always excites local people and to be playing such a major role in it is wonderful. I just can’t wait for it to start!”

The celeb chef will open the festival with an impressive demo, baking her two favourite cakes in the shape of an elephant and a French bulldog.

The festivalgoers will learn the science behind her amazing cake designs with a lesson on how sugarpaste is used to create face and body parts.

The owner of local craft ale bar and restaurant The Crafty Fox will also be joining the talented line up with a live demonstration.

Paul Fox will be creating a hearty warm pork and scotch egg dish on the main stage for gathered foodies.

He said: “It will absolutely feature local produce, as that’s what I believe in. I also want people to be able to cook the same dish at home, and really want to try it.”

Paul’s food journey began 12 years ago at Accrington Food Festival when he happened to bump into ITV’s Britain’s Best Dish.

Following a successful interview with them, his lucky encounter led him to appearing on TV before buying up the Crafty Fox in November 2020.

The Crafty Fox will also be competing against Hyndburn Food Pantry and main sponsors North Lancs Training Group (NLTG), and Property Shop in a Ready Steady Cook challenge.

After Molly Robbins' cake demonstration, the four will take centre stage aiming to cook the best meal out of a random selection of ingredients.

With a focus on demonstrating affordable and easy ways to try new recipes, organiser at Hydburn Food Pantry, Stacy Walsh, said the whole aim of the challenge is to educate the audience on “what can be done with some really basic items.”

The festival will also feature NLTG on the mainstage promoting their Catering and Hospitality Apprenticeships as well a live demo of a gourmet chicken recipe from one of the course tutors.

The free to attend will be taking place on Saturday, June 11, in Accrington town centre from 10am to 4pm.

Organisers Amazing Accrington are encouraging local businesses to book their food stalls now to avoid missing out.
