A WOMAN and man have been arrested after two people were taken to hospital with suspected knife injuries this morning.

Officers were called to Whalley Road in Clitheroe at shortly before 4am today after two people were found with injuries.

The two victims, a man aged 49 and another aged 25, were taken to hospital with what police have described as minor knife injuries.

Two arrests have been made as a result of the incident and a 51-year-old man and woman, 31, remain in custody.

People living in the area reported seeing a police cordon in place on Whalley Road, close to the Texaco Garage and around the Legion Car Park.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at shortly before 4am today (Wednesday, June 1) to a report two people had been injured in Whalley Road, Clitheroe.

“The two victims, a man aged 49 and a man aged 25, were taken to hospital with what are believed to be minor knife injuries.

“Two people – a man aged 51 and a woman aged 33 - have been arrested on suspicion of wounding and are currently in custody.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log 0136 of June 1.”
