Fundraiser for Blackburn cat set up by ex-sex worker gets big response

Cat English, who lives in Darwen, created the Go Fund Me page after she saw the cat entering someone else's cat flap searching for food. 

The 36-year-old is dedicated to the care of animals and spends anywhere from £3,000 to £5,000 a month on vet bills for the felines.

The self-confessed ‘feral cat caretaker’ also admits to spending £500 a week on their food and feeding up to 100 cats a day.

Cat, who is originally from Bury, is a former call girl, and says she used sex work to pay for the care of stray cats, but is caring for that many that that her funds are almost depleted.

She said: "This poor boy has been struggling like this for years on the streets of Blackburn.

"I was helping another cat and this poor boy turned up going in someone’s cat flap for food.

"He was so hungry and I couldn’t not help him, but I really have no more funds as I’m helping that many cats and really need help to help him.

"He’s been admitted and hospitalised in the emergency vets and he’s really not in great shape, and he’s going to need a lot of help.

"He smells so bad, he has wounds all over him, he’s not neutered and he’s so matted, he has flu and I’m going to try my hardest for him, but I really need help for funds.

Cat said that people tend to ignore stray moggies struggling on the streets and hopes that by setting up a Go Fund Me page she can encourage people to reach out and help.
