DARWEN Town Council has a new Mayor.
Its annual meeting agreed that 51-year-old Cllr Stephanie Brookfield should take up the post for two years.
The Darwen West Labour representative on both the town and Blackburn with Darwen Borough councils took over from Conservative Cllr Lilian Salton.
Cllr Brookfield, who is recovering from Long Covid, move to the town from Blackburn in 1999.
The mother-of-two, who has five grandchildren, said: "It's a privilege and honour being elected Mayor of Darwen. My aim is to represent our wonderful town to the best of my ability.
"Over the years I have found the people of Darwen to be warm and friendly.
"As a town, Darwen is lucky to be surrounded by such beautifully rural countryside.
"I'm excited to see what comes out of the Darwen Deal funding. These are monumental times for our wonderful town."
