OFFICERS who pulled over a car in Accrington yesterday found 26 ‘wrap bags’ of heroin hidden under the gear stick, police have said.
The drugs, alongside £200 cash and a mobile phone, were all seized after the car, a Volkswagen Golf, was stopped in Blackburn Road at around 4.45pm on Tuesday, May 24.
A 36-year-old man, from Haslingden, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. He has since been released under investigation.
Sgt Chris Hutchinson, from the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: “A patrol stopped a vehicle and after a quick search found a quantity of drugs.
"A man was arrested and our enquiries are ongoing.
“We know that drugs cause misery within communities and we hope this sends a message that we will not tolerate them.
“As always we would ask that you contact us if you have any information about drug supply in your area.”
