CLARETS Trust has released a brand new short film to celebrate the relaunch of the charity and to capture what Burnley Football Club means to its fans.

The short film was created by a professional crew and narrated by local fans and young Pride of Britain winners, Freddie Xavi and Hughie Higginson.

It was played at half time game on Sunday’s game against Newcastle United, which heart-breakingly for fans and the club ended in Burnley being relegated from the Premier League.

The Trust’s newly appointed chairman, George Poole, said the short film outlined what Burnley Football Club meant to this community and what the Clarets Trust represents.

He said: “In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the sad passing of our former Chairperson Peter Pike, and the change in ownership at Burnley Football Club, we felt the time was right to relaunch the Clarets Trust.

“It was important we transitioned the Trust into a new era in order stand in the best possible position to represent the fans of the club over the next decade and beyond.

“To do so, we felt the time was right for a new logo, a new vision and a list of new ambitions.

“We wanted to produce a short film that outlined what Burnley Football Club meant to this community and what the Clarets Trust represents.”

George said Hughie, from Burnley, and Freddie, from Whalley, would be the “perfect representatives” for the short film after they raised more than £200,000 for a hospital charity.

He said: “The two boys share a special bond not just with each other, but with the local community as well.

“Their story embodies the spirit of the Clarets Trust - which is a community coming together to pave the way for a better tomorrow.

“We were honoured to have the boys help with the voiceover of the film.”

Freddie’s mum, Sarah Ronnan, said: “George reached out to us a few weeks ago to ask if Hughie and Freddie would be interested in narrating a short film they were putting together for their relaunch, it was an honour to be asked and a pleasure to be a part of the film.

“We think the Clarets Trust captured perfectly what it means to be a Burnley fan and it was fantastic to see such a great reaction to it online and in the stadium at half time when it was played on the big screen.”
