THE East Lancashire Hospice has appointed a new chief executive to lead the charity forward.

Hilary Barrett has been recruited as the new chief executive of East Lancashire Hospice, taking over from Lyn Stevenson who retires this month.

Ms Barrett has a background in sales, marketing and business development with her career starting in the private sector.

She launched her own business more than a decade ago, determined to use her skills and experience in the charity/not for profit and hospice sectors.

She recently worked with Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and latterly with Relate Cheshire and Merseyside.

Ms Barrett is a trustee at St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds, where she experienced the benefits of hospice care when it cared for her father.

She said: “Hospices provide such brilliant and necessary care.

"I saw and felt the impact of outstanding palliative and end of life care on the whole family.

"I’ll do everything I can to make that care available to anyone who needs it.”

“It’s obvious that East Lancashire Hospice holds a special place in the community it serves and for the staff and volunteers who work here.

"Everything about the hospice clearly shows that excellence in patient care is at the heart of what we do.

"I’m honoured to be able to continue and improve that even further with the help and support of our amazing team."
