A DRIVER who was weaving between lanes on the motorway was stopped by police.
And when the results of a roadside alcohol test were revealed, the person was promptly arrested.
They blew 54 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath; the legal limit for alcohol in the system while driving is 35mcg.
Officers working near the M6 found the driver after a report was made by a member of the public.
A police spokesperson said: “Following a report from a concerned member of the public about a vehicle weaving between the lanes.
“The driver of this vehicle was stopped on the M6 motorway.
“Subsequently arrested on suspicion of drink driving.”
Those convicted of drink driving may get up to six months in prison, an unlimited fine, and a driving ban of at least one year, rising to a minimum of three years if convicted twice in 10 years.
