A house fire broke out last night involving a domestic coal fire, with two fire engines called out to tackle the blaze.
Crews from Colne Fire Station on Craddock Road arrived on the scene at School Lane at around 9.25pm on Friday evening.
There they found a blaze underway at a home that, on closer examination, involved a coal fire which firefighters were able to put out within 20 minutes using a hose reel and a thermal imaging camera.
A statement issued by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The incident was at a domestic property and involved a coal fire.
“Firefighters used a hose reel and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
“Crews were in attendance for approximately twenty minutes.”
The fire and rescue service has not reported whether or not anyone was inside the property at the time the fire was in progress but no injuries have been reported as a result of the fire and no further damage has been reported to any nearby buildings.
The fire service has encouraged anyone who suspected they may know about a fire in progress or any other serious emergency to always contact them immediately by calling 999.
