Police officers felt the force this weekend with a visit to a special Star Wars-themed fun day at a branch of Tesco.

Officers from the Haslingden Neighbourhood Team attended the fun day at Haslingden and were there to see Star Wars favourites like bounty hunter Boba Fett and a Jawa in full costume.

Together with members of the public, they were able to enjoy themselves at the event held at the Syke Street store while also spreading a message about the importance of public safety.

A spokesperson for Rossendale Police said: “Today your Haslingden Neighbourhood Policing Team attended a community fun day at Tesco in Haslingden where they were introduced to two of Tesco's newest recruits from the planet Mandalore!

“Good luck to them both and may the force be with you!”

Photographs shared by Lancashire Police show officers stood alongside Star Wars-themed costume artists in full regalia.

Fans of the science fiction film series will recognise the costumes as having been inspired by the recent Star Wars television series The Mandalorian, focusing on the adventures of the cult favourite bounty hunter Boba Fett.

The character is instantly recognisable thanks to his distinctive armour, which has been lovingly recreated for the event in Haslingden.
