Around 50 “full sized” cannabis plants were discovered by police earlier today acting after residents reported smelling the drugs in the area.

The plants were found after police officers raided a home on Coker Street, Darwen earlier on Friday.

They acted after other people in the area reported suspicious smells coming from the house in question.

A police spokesperson said: “You recently reported a strong smell of cannabis in the area of Coker St Darwen. 

"Today officers from the Darwen Neighbourhood Policing Team and the police Task Force have located a cannabis set up in a property at this location.

“We acted on intelligence and discovered over 50 full size plants.

“The property has now been cleared and residents can now breathe easily once again.

“Thank you to everyone involved.”

Officers have supplied imagery from scene showing the fully sized plants that they recovered from the house in Darwen.

The plants will now all be safely destroyed.
