A 17-year-old boy has been charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after 35 wraps of cocaine and heroin were found during a strip search.

On Monday, officers stopped a teenager in the Corporation Park area of Blackburn in possession of a sheath knife.

Due to his age, he was taken home to parents where an interview was conducted.

Two days later, the same boy was seen in Blackburn town centre where he was stopped and searched due to previously being in possession of a knife.

Two mobile phones were found, along with cannabis and a small amount of cash.

The boy was taken to Greenbank police station and following a strip search he was found to be in possession of 35 wraps of Class A drugs, namely crack cocaine and heroin.

The boy was charged with possession with the intent to supply Class A drugs and bailed to court.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Your local neighbourhood policing team and taskforce have been working endlessly this week to conduct the investigation and get this male infront of the courts following his actions.

"We can't stress enough how important it is to tackle knife crime and to help make our communities safe so that families can feel safe walking the streets of Blackburn.

"We do not in any way shape or form accept violent crime and tolerate people carrying knives."
