A FAMILY run fireplace firm is hosting an open day to celebrate 34 years in business.

Canterbury Fireplaces, which has its showroom in Canterbury Street Mill, Blackburn, was first opened in 1988 by Steve and Jackie Everett.

In 2002, Stephen and Jackie purchased the semi-derelict mill in front of the showroom and begin work to create a larger centre with more parking, in addition to retail units available to rent.

Then in 2006, after spending more than £300,000, Canterbury Fireplaces unveiled their new state of the art showroom to the public, with more than 100 displays.

After almost 30 successful years at the helm, Steve and Jackie retired and in 2016 their son Lucas took the reins, and since then he has been sure to make his mark on the company.

Over the last six years, he has invested into Canterbury Fireplaces, creating a bigger showroom that has 150 live displays, making it one of the biggest showrooms in the UK.

To celebrate their 34th year in business, the showroom is hosting an open week from June 6 until June 11.

Throughout the week there will be plenty of deals on a variety of products, from discounts on stoves and electric fires, to outdoor products such as outdoor heaters and BBQs.

The open week is the company's way of giving something back to new and existing customers as a way of thanks for helping the business grow to the successful team it is today.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Director of Canterbury Fireplaces, Lucas Everett, said: "As a family run business we care about our customers, from the minute they come into the showroom and offer a fantastic aftercare service too, and I am extremely proud that Canterbury Fireplaces has reached 34 years of trading.

"It is beyond my parents' wildest dreams that we would now be one of the largest and longest standing fireplace showrooms in the UK.

"Canterbury Fireplaces started life with my dad Stephen building full length stone fireplaces with VHS storage space, while my mum Jackie ran the shop.

"We have now expanded to a showroom with more than 150 displays and 10 employees, it is truly amazing.

Lancashire Telegraph:

"We have come through a lot of testing times, numerous recessions, the property crash and recently Covid but through a lot of hard work by our staff, and help from our loyal customers we have managed to come through each challenge stronger.

"For this reason we decided to hold a full open week at our Canterbury Street showroom allowing us to give something back to our customers old and new.

"Whether you bought something from us back in 1988 or have just moved into your first home, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you.

"We will have giveaways, live demonstrations, fantastic special offers not forgetting free food and drink."
