A section of the M6 had to be closed last night due to a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway between junctions 27 for Shevington and 28 for Leyland.
It is believed the carriageway was closed for more than two hours as police, fire and ambulance crews dealth with the incident.
Two lanes of the motoway were then re-opened just before 1.30am on Sunday, with all three lanes back running just after 2am.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: "The M6 is closed northbound between J27 and J28 due to a serious collision.
"Emergency services are working at the scene."

Three fire crews were sent to the scene to help free a person from the car.
The person was then taken to hospital, although the nature of their injuries is unknown at this time.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Three fire engines from Bamber Bridge, Leyland and Penwortham attended a road traffic collision on the M6 Northbound, close to junction 28.
"Whilst in attendance, crews extricated one casualty from a vehicle, who was then transported to hospital with North West Ambulance Service.
"Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and 40 minutes."
