A FEARSOME police dog caught a thief who had 'made a run for it'.
A vehicle in Burnley had been spotted by officers in suspicious circumstances on Saturday, and they were soon notified it had been involved in a theft earlier in the day and that its owner was wanted.
The vehicle pulled over when requested to by police, before the driver tried to make his escape on foot.
However, he was quickly followed by fearsome Alsatian Police Dog Boomer who "made the arrest" and stopped the wanted man in his tracks.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "A vehicle was sighted in the Burnley area in suspicious circumstances.
"It had been involved in a theft earlier in the day and the male was wanted.
"On sighting Team Boomer, the vehicle has pulled over and the driver made a run for it. Quickly followed by Boomer who makes the arrest."
