TWO men are being sought by police in relation to a town centre assault earlier this week which left a man with head injuries.

The victim had been walking in Blackburn Road, Accrington, to the Bees Knees pub between 8.45pm and 8.55pm on Wednesday, May 11, when he was attacked by a man who had been riding a bicycle.

The suspect is described as white, wearing a black and grey top and a face mask.

The victim, a man in his 30s from Accrington, suffered an injury to his head and was taken to hospital. The injury was not life-threatening.

Lancashire Police have conducted a number of enquiries and now want to speak to the two men on the bicycles captured on a CCTV clip as part of their investigation.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We appreciate the quality of the CCTV is poor and the individuals are wearing face coverings.

"However, we hope someone will recognise their family member, friend or acquaintance by their distinctive clothing or the vehicles they are riding.

"No arrests have been made at this stage."

PC Phillipa Crompton, of East Division, said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack which has left the victim requiring hospital treatment.

“We have carried out a number of enquiries to identify the individual responsible for this assault and we now need to speak to the two people in the CCTV footage who we believe can assist with our investigation.”
