A series of dawn raids have seen seven men and one woman arrested for drug offences.

Police conducted a series of raids in Burnley earlier today where the eight people, aged between 20 and 31, were arrested on suspicion of drug offences.

The seven men and one woman were detained following the raids which took place at the crack of dawn at various addresses in Burnley.

They have all been arrested on suspicion of drug offences, including the supply of class A drugs. They remain in custody at this time.

This morning’s activity follows a lengthy proactive investigation into the supply of Class A drugs in Burnley and East Lancashire.

DI Tom Edmondson, from Lancashire Constabulary, said: “We are committed to taking the fight to criminals, disrupting drug-dealing activity and protecting vulnerable members of society in order to keep our streets safe.

“I would encourage anyone concerned about criminal activity in their area to contact the police, knowing that we will act on that information and take the appropriate action.”

Anyone with concerns about drug-dealing or any other criminal activity in their area is asked to call police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
