TOURISM board VisitEngland has revealed the 100 winners of this year's ROSE Awards – and eight are in Lancashire.

The ROSE Awards recognise the accommodation providers across England who provide visitors with the warmest of welcomes.

They celebrate the establishments where the owners, management and employees, irrespective of their star rating, style or type of accommodation, provide outstanding experiences for their customers.

This year, eight in the county of Lancashire have been recognised, including Chestnut Cottage in Worston, which is the only East Lancashire accommodation to have featured on the list.

The four star self-catering accommodation, near Clitheroe, boasts views of Pendle Hill. It is ideal for hikers or those just hoping to escape into the quiet countryside.

There are two bedrooms, one twin and one double on ground floor, and a new dining room.

The cottage also benefits from a private garden with gazebo and table and chairs.

Owner, Marilyn Davies, said she was "so happy" to see the property mentioned.

She said: “I am so happy to have won. They only give out 100 a year and it is so nice to be one of them.

“It’s only a little cottage in Worston just behind my house but it seems to do very well.

“People seem to love the views of Pendle Hill. It’s also very tranquil and quiet with its own garden.

“We have an acre of land around it, it’s quite idyllic.”

Other Lancashire winners include Capernwray House in Carnforth, Riverside Barn Guesthouse in Preston, as well as Wagon and Horses in Lancaster.

A spokesperson for Capernwray House in Carnforth said they were “shocked and delighted to receive this award”.

They said: “Thanks to all of my lovely guests for continuing to visit us at Capernwray House and spreading the B&B word.

“Love my job - hope to see you very soon.”

The Clifton Arms Hotel in Lytham said: “We are delighted to have received the Visit England ROSE Award for 2022 in recognition of service excellence.

“Is a fantastic accolade to receive and showcases the importance of being able to provide exceptional levels of service to our guests who we love welcoming to our hotel.
