A spokesperson for the mountain rescue team said: “It’s so important to us to be part of the community and when we were asked to help we jumped to the opportunity.

“The work everyone does to help keep Rossendale and clean and pleasant place to live is priceless.

“After a good three hours in the river we collected a fair bit of waste, including a bike, baskets and prams amongst a whole load more, so now it’s looking more respectable for all to enjoy.”

“A small less group also weeded and tidying at the outward-bound bypass.

“A really big thanks to Rossendale and Pendle Mountain rescue for their help with this task.”
