A man from Colne has been ordered to pay back more than £1,000 after stealing three Rug Doctor carpet cleaners from different supermarkets in a period of four days.

Andrew Craig Parr, 36, stole the first machine, worth £420, on October 15 from Asda in Pilsworth, Bury, belonging to Rug Doctor Limited.

The next day, October 16, Parr turned up at Morrisons in Rochdale and stole another Rug Doctor cleaning machine, again worth £420 belonging to Rug Doctor Limited.

The third theft took place on October 19, when he took a third Rug Doctor from Asda in Rochdale, again belonging to Rug Doctor Limited.

Parr pleaded guilty to the three thefts and a collection order to pay back £1,260 was made by Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.

Parr, of Robinson Street, Colne, has been put on put on a conditional discharge for 18 months and must pay £65 per month.
