A nine-year-old raised more than £700 for charity by running a mile every day for a month.

Charlotte Cameron, from Darwen, set out to raise the funds for the East Lancashire Hospice after being inspired by her mum and cousins who have already raised thousands for the charity.

Charlotte's mum Laura Cameron ran the London Marathon in October 2021 and raised more than £5,000.

Her cousins, Jack and Tom Mayoh, collected more than £30,000 by wearing shorts for a year.

Charlottte decided to run every day with her mum Laura.

Laura said: "She started coming out with me and said she wanted to help raise some money. I didn’t think she would keep it up but she has.

"It was decided to set the challenge for a month through March and April, so not the nicest weather, and even though her holidays were in the middle, she kept to it every day."

Charlotte has collected more than £700 with Becky Ham, her headteacher at St Barnabus School in Darwen, donating £150.

Charlotte’s aunt, and Laura’s sister, Louise Mayoh used the Hospice after her cancer diagnosis, in 2018.
