A new dessert parlour has opened in one of the most prominent locations in Blackburn.

The £350,000 ‘Little Dessert Shop’ will take up the spot next to the landmark German Donner Kebab (GDK) Restaurant at the roundabout at Eanam and Barbara Castle Way.

Social media influencers joined special guests at a ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed launch event last night (Friday May 6) ahead of the official opening which takes place today.

The store announced it will be offering 99p waffles to the first 1000 customers coming through its doors.

The building itself underwent extensive renovations both inside and out after the old Maida Restaurant closed in 2019.

The 60-seater dessert restaurant will be the first Little Dessert Shop to launch in Lancashire with others in the North west located in Cheetham Hill and Chorlton, Manchester, Warrington and Altrincham.

Little Dessert Shop first opened in 2015 and serves a range of ‘artisanal waffles, crepes, coffee, cheesecakes, cookie dough and gelato’.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The firm said the Blackburn restaurant will feature the new menu ‘redesigned with 66 completely new items accompanied by the fan favourites’.

The Blackburn branch has created over 20 jobs within the area both in-store and delivery drivers who will work over two shifts, said the store.

Spokesperson for the Little Dessert Shop, Hussein Kajee said: "We are delighted to be opening in Blackburn and can't wait to welcome our first guests.

"The menu is a little different to what people will be used to.

“To celebrate the opening of our new store in Blackburn, Little Dessert Shop are giving away waffles for 99p to the first 1000 customers at the store!”
