A SEX offender who failed to attend court has been arrested by police.

An appeal was launched for information on the whereabouts of Leon Bennett, of Olympia Street, Burnley, on Thursday.

The 36-year-old, who was wanted on warrant after failing to appear in court for breaching his notification requirements has now been located and arrested.

A police spokesman said: “Earlier today we asked for your help finding Leon Bennett from Burnley, who was wanted on warrant after failing to appear at court for breaching his notification requirements.

“Bennett has been arrested in Burnley this evening. Thank you to everybody who shared our appeal.”

He had been due in court on April 26, where it was to be alleged he had "failed to notify the police that he had stayed at an address in Blackpool for at least 12 hours where an under 18 year old resides", Blackpool Magistrates' Court documents said.
