A driver who flipped their car in a crash has been sent to court after it is suspected they were on laughing gas.
Officers attended the crash last night (May 3) in Tong End, Whitworth, close to the Cock and Magpie public house.
Police say it is suspected the contributing factors to the collision were speed and the use of psychoactive substances, also referred to as nitrous oxide.
In the crash, the car ended up on its roof, with significant damage to the front end of the vehicle. There was also damage to a telegraph pole in the street.
A spokesperson for the police said: “The driver in this instance is very fortunate to be walking away with a few cuts and grazes, however, the results could have been much worse.
“The driver has been issued with a summons to court for the offences.”
Along with police, firefighters were also called to the scene to assist with clearing up the crash.
