A NEW clothing shop is to open in Blackburn town centre today as a mum-of-two takes her first steps in business.

Vanessa Guerin, 38, from Blackburn, said it has been "a dream" to own her own shop and hopes making a success of it will give her children "the best life".

Boutique by Vee will open its doors at noon in King William Street, Blackburn, next to Marks & Spencer.

Vanessa said: "I am a mum to two beautiful children, Kyle and Freya, who are my absolute everything.

"I have a dream like we all do and that is to give them the best life I possibly can. I have also always wanted my own business. I have the drive, passion and love to empower other women.

"Working in retail from the age of 17, it's always been my passion, anyone who knows me knows I'm a shopaholic and a quirky, stylish fashion follower who takes pride in my appearance.

"I want to present my new shop, Boutique by Vee, to the lovely people of Blackburn and put some life back into the town, as after a lot of research I found there's a huge gap in the market since the loss of many stores in the town.

"My beautiful mum Juliette has always been by my side helping me follow my dreams and continues to do so by being my business partner.

"We woke up one day and decided it was my time to shine and put my passion in retail to good use. So here we are, our very own family run boutique with potential job opportunities in the near future.

"I hope to bring Blackburn just what it needs. A beautiful boutique to suit all. So dress to impress and get yourself down this Saturday 12pm until 4pm for the opening.

"I can't wait to see you all at Boutique by Vee."

Boutique by Vee will be operating on a 'cash only' basis for the time being.
